Demo by Holon – Noodlesoup

September 1st, 2010 | 3D, Animation, Art, Data Visualization | No Comments

holon – noodlesoup from holon on Vimeo.

A demo (from the demoscene) is mostly a non-interactive audio-visual presentation that runs in real-time on a computer. This one is done with Java and can be download as a executable for PC here http://holon.drastic.net/. Credits go to one of my former colleagues rtz23 and pandrr. Love the outcome and the powerful colors.. couldnt get it to run on a pc though. I´d love to see how it works in real time.

John Nolan Animatronics

Check out the mechanics of these animatronics. I know these mechanical puppets are really creepy and terrifying, nothing for a sensitive soul. The spookiest thing about it is, that they know how to bring these object to life. But they also made a cute one.

Enjoy their work and

I am not an artist

May 10th, 2010 | Animation, Fun | No Comments

An animated gif paranoia about nonstop design workers.
I found this funny little amazing website about gifs. And it really makes you laugh. The best is the gif animator. I always wanted to make a little animated gif and mostly i was too lazy to make it with photoshop, but the generator tool on the website is really easy to use. Upload some pictures, which are related to each other in any kind of way and then you are an nonstop design worker. And there some really funny ideas, very lovable trashy stuff. Perfect for long nights of hard working to cool down your brain a little bit.

CHLOROPHYLL SKIN BY LUCIE MC RAE AND MANDY SMITH

An experimentation into color, movement, absorption and the body. For me it is an act of art between disgust and the fascination of surrealistic experiments with the human body, which is freaking me out in some way. Find here more information about Lucy McRae and Mandy Smith.

Enigmatica by Kit Webster

March 30th, 2010 | Animation, Art, Music | No Comments

ENIGMATICA from Kit Webster on Vimeo.

Kit Webster is a new media installation artist and composer from Melbourne, Australia.
He describes Enigmatica:

“Enigmatica acts as an experimental platform for the combination of light, sound and space in order to develop immersive synthasthetic environments.
A series of suspended frames diminish in size down the length of the gallery acting as a canvas for the display of surface specific projected visual sequences.
By positioning the frames in a perfect series, and developing visualisations that are isolated to these frames, I aim to create a work that does not exist entirely in one or two dimensions but a form of synthetic hybridized space.
It is this constructed inter-dimensionality and the development of freely flowing abstract visual and sonic sequences that aims to demonstrate the potential for new forms of digital sculpture.”

Great work really! See more on his vimeo channel or on his website.

Great Animation Effect by David Wilson

March 3rd, 2010 | Animation, Film | No Comments

ALL THE ANIMATIONS SEEN IN THIS VIDEO WERE CREATED IN CAMERA.

Moray McLaren – We Got Time from David Wilson Creative on Vimeo.

Using both praxinoscopes and the technique of matching up the frame rate of the spinning record to that of the camera, no computer super-imposing was used; what you see is what rolled off the camera. The transitions between each section of animation was created by simply cutting or wiping between the bits of footage.

All the animations were created, drawn and coloured by the director David Wilson. Good job!

Motion Graphics Created with Programming and Music as a Symbiont

February 8th, 2010 | Animation, Motion Design, Music | No Comments

In this article I want to summarize an exploration of digital artworks born and influenced by sound, a collaboration between programmers, artists, musicians and animators. Forms, colours, structures and sculptures generated with programming. I show you my 5 favorites, mostly choosen because of my liking of music by Four Tet,  The Flashbulb and Alva Noto.

For more informations about the theme, tools and tutorials and of course more examples visit this blog www.smashingmagazine.com.

Here for now a fast introduction into the topic, a visualization of  abstract micro graphics and mellow forms evolved by a energized idm sound.

Advanced Beauty 13 of 18 / Directed by Maxim Zhestkov from Universal Everything on Vimeo.

This motion graphic was born by the sound of The Flashbulb.
