ZSO also known as Sara Blake does some amazing Illustration work. Last night i was watching Justin Mallers live transmition on ustream and he commented about her and led me to the site. Nice way of finding out about new stuff.. So anyway, she is truly talented and does some very cool stuff. Here´s what she writes on her about page:

“Hello, I’m ZSO. (On paper you may also know me as Sara Blake.) I’m an Interactive Art Director, Designer, and Illustrator living and loving in New York City.
ZSO (pronounced |zō|) is a collection of letters that I find aesthetically and phonetically beautiful. Together they make sound much like “so,” the adverb which means “to such a great extent.” I am a person of extremes, for better or worse (most often the latter), so the ring of it was fitting, and the moniker has since stuck for good.

See more of here work on her website (www.hellozso.com) and check out the interviews on dazed digital and thee blog (to name a few). By the way..thats her.

Drawings by Swampdonkey

July 5th, 2010 // No Comments // Posted by Andrea

The view of life from a creative guy from Oakland, CA, named Swampdonkey. He is not famous or has a good position int the creative szene or rich or has something important to say. Maybe the only thing you get is , when you translate his name -(urban language : A very ugly, usually fat girl who hangs around in bars and clubs waiting to sexually assault males who are too drunk to defend themselves.)
His work comes naturally out of his mind and lifestyle. He just loves to do his art and photography. And it is good for us that he shares his creative output with us on his flickr account. I like his stuff and take the chance to spread it. And maybe you like it too.

JULIEN VALLÉE / Danse Dance

“Each day, we are surrounded by seemingly insignificant objects, taking them from one place to the other, or leaving them on a table for weeks, without paying any attention to them. We ignore or forget them, using things only when we need to, making sure they don’t interfere or inhabit our space. But what if they were not so stable and subservient? What if they could swivel, bounce or even fly. And what if they did so all at the same time? We want to imagine a place where objects could live and move, harmoniously, and of their own accord. Without interfering with each other these objects would bounce, roll, turn and cross each other’s paths.

This experiment is about re-discovering our daily surroundings. This is the making of the interactive video that was originally made for If You Could Collaborate exhibition.

This video is the making of the interactive film where each object is assigned to a letter on the keyboard, and can be activated or deactivated at any time. To learn more about our process and to play with this interactive desk, go to dansedance.com

Mario Hugo developed several verbal and non verbal concepts for the the album of Beck.
“I was asked to develop bold, iconic concepts for the latest Beck album. This verbal set went unused, though some concepts were later re-appropriated for the tour.”

Statement

“I use intuition and creative zeal to discover forms and plumb my experiences, emotional, physical and aesthetic, which I recast as shape, line, color, and dimension. From childhood I have experienced my most moving and intimate experiences as gesture, which has always been a vital component of my work. My work springs from nature in as much as I am a creature born of nature.

I often use geometric forms, most often the circle to allude to an ideal of physical perfection and emotional stability and a reference to order and equilibrium.”

Wildlife by Mission Design

March 8th, 2010 // No Comments // Posted by Andrea

Actually it is not the newest Design stuff (2008), but it is timeless. Design, which i really appreciate, on the strength of the handling with the black white contrast and the composition of  white space and figures. And of course it is always a challenge to combine photoghraphs with illustrations. It feels kind of real, but as a result of the overfilling illustration, the graphic gets a mystic and surrealistic touch, like an extract of a fairy-tale.

Mission Design:

“When working on client projects we occasionaly come up with concepts and ideas that not always fit the client brief, but still has great potential. “Wildlife” is one such idea.
We chose to invest quite some time on this project, together with the photographer Pål Laukli. It turned out to be a project we are very proud of.”
