Stop Motion Animation Film “Lucia & Luis”

November 4th, 2009 // 1 Comment // Posted by Andrea

Stop motion video “LUIS” (Part 2 of 2) by Niles Atallah, Cristobal Leon & Joaquin Cociña on Vimeo.

This video is wicked. I love the pictures, the dark and eerie atmosphere with these japanese horror elements. The execution of the idea and the the style of the stop motion effects let the whole video become a masterpiece of its own. The commission of the Illustrative thought the same and they decided to exhibit it.  It’s now displayed in Berlin. I was there and it is worth to visit the exhibition, the work is terrific and expressive. The artists are very talented and you can see a whole bunch of styles, which creates the current illustration movements.

Established in Berlin in 2006, Illustrative has been held twice in Berlin (2006 & 2007), once in Paris (2007), and once in Zürich (2008). Being a big success right from the start it managed to be the leading international forum for contemporary illustration and graphic arts.  It’s Taking place from October 16 – November 1 in Berlin. ›› Read the whole Article…

Analog Photography by Michael Meinhardt

October 28th, 2009 // No Comments // Posted by Matthias

Nowadays in the digital age of entertainment people decreasingly work with analog techniques. Sure there are many reasons to do it like that- for instance, lower price of digital technology, don’t need an education to work with and the most important think you can work with an computer to handle. So everyone who tried to adjust an analog synthesizer or take photos with a SLR camera on film will notice the difference between analog and digital. Its a question of know-how.

Today i want you to introduce a little bit about the work of our dude and Berlin based analog photographer Michael Meinhardt. He’s one of these oldschoolers. I like the look of the raw analog pictures a lot. An atmosphere you wont get with digital cameras without using photoshop. Even if you use it you will not get this unique look made by film and developing liquids.

This is a little collection of my favorites shots you can find on his profile on FotoCommunity.

Dan Tobin Smith does some amazing Installations for Still Life Photography. As you can see there is almost no Photoshop involved and these Pics require a massive effort. See lots more on his website, where he shows some impressive ads for clients like sony, visa or the new album cover of the hip hop artist Jay Z. I love the colors and intensity of these..Letter Y is my favourite and in the same time the most recent one (dated September 2009).

Very cool way to use light for fotos and videos by Lichtfaktor from Cologne ..way to go.

“The Cologne artists’ collective, consisting of VJ $ehvermögen (photographer and VJ since 1997 with many years of experience in the event field) and JIAR (communications designer and graffiti artist), experiments with the possibilities yielded by bulb (long-term) exposure and painting. Their aim is to explore all aspects of “lightwriting” and to develop it further.”

Love these Pics! From a Photobook by Syoin Kajii called Nami (the japanese word for wave).
They made me think about the strenght of the ocean i have witnessed while living close to the atlantic for almost my entire life. Not as asthetic as the ones from Clark Little but raw..untreated..

Underwater Photography by Valerie Morignat

May 26th, 2009 // No Comments // Posted by Lukas

A very special atmosphere comes along while i look at these Pictures…i think most of us have wittnessed the moment when we dive underwater und look up…hold still…and gravity turns insignificant.  Shouldn´t Art or Photography make us think or at least feel something?! In this case it worked. Great job.
