OneBeat Showcase Brunnen70 September 2012

OneBeat Berlin is back to Wedding notorious basement club. Back in May we announced the latest Brunnen70 event and it was all about techno and house. This time the Berlin-based non-profit artist support project aims to an alternative music showcase. Counting 3 Live-Acts and a DJ, 2 VJs and some specials we’re looking forward to something a little bit different then the usual 4/4 beats. Beatmaker Wermonster will be playing alongside soundcloud celebrity Kyson, One Dub Connection will be performing a blend between funky Dub and Drum’n’Bass and James A.Shaw plan to please the ears with an eclectic dj-set of Breaks and Bass music.
Fear not, as there will be plenty of 4/4 Beats on the other areas including youANDme (cocoon / rotary cocktail), Anais from Berlin’s pyonen and Grizzly on the disco floor, among many others. It’s all there, see you at the dancefloor!

Living high up – Tree houses

June 19th, 2012 // No Comments // Posted by

As a child I never wanted a tree house, i was satisfied with climbing and exploring the trees. But when i grew older i was thinking a lot about alternative living and by then, living in trees crossed my mind more and more often. Trees always catch my attention in so many ways. Maybe, if we would need trees for living as basement for building our homes, we would care more about our daily use of nature material and concern ourself with saving our trees.

A lot of architects played around with the idea of living in trees.  Here are some inspirations I found in the internet and maybe this collections inspires you as well to think of trees as an alternative living. I hopefully can make this possible in the near future. If you click on the image you get more information, sometimes it was not possible to find the source.

Enjoy.

The Invisible – Rispah

June 18th, 2012 // 1 Comment // Posted by

Rispah is the second album by The Invisible” out on Ninja Tunes. Brilliant, overwhelmingly rich in textures, .. an album i am sure to be listening for a long time. Must have, must listen!

Rispah’, the sophomore album by The Invisible and their first for Ninja Tune, is out now.

The album, “a love letter to grief” following the passing of singer Dave Okumu’s mother, is imbued with an inevitable melancholy but defined by a sense of hope. Throughout, the band reveal their rich creativity and musicianship. Echoes run through these songs of African music (including beautifully-woven-in samples of the singers from Okumu’s mother’s funeral), psalm tones and devotional music, In A Silent Way-era Miles Davis, hints of minimal classical composers such as Steve Reich and the wilder more psychedelic end of hip hop and related electronic musics.

Nothing is ever included for the sake of it, no attempt is made to patronise or sell the audience short. It’s a record brimming with real emotion and restless intelligence, a record to get lost in.

Windsor – More then a year

Windsor More then a year

Sometimes you listen to certain track, and it just stays in your head… and you want to listen to it again and again. “More then a year” from Windsor  is one of these tracks for me. Lush with deep pads, a slow kick and a great looped vocal. The second track “I am fascinated” feels more progressive.. but keeps the deep atmosphere. A very warm release,  sounds for rainy days as well as a summer evening.. a very promising first appearance. There’s not much to say about the artist/s.. the FB page dates to the beginning of June, the upload is 4 days old. I just know that this is produced in Berlin and i am looking forward to find out more. Have a listen, good stuff!
