Oneohtrix Point Never in symbioses with the Joshua Light Show

February 4th, 2012 // No Comments // Posted by Andrea

The Joshua Light Show

New York City 1967. When the Summer of Love blows its wind from the West Coast to the city, it brings with it new ideas, colours and sounds.
That was the beginning of the Joshua Light Show, but this incredible show never reached middle-europe, till now. In Line with the transmediale and the CTM.12 Festival he performs with three outstanding musicians in Berlin.
Supersilent with Stian Westerhus, Oneohtrix Point Never and as a special highlight, no other than Krautrock / cosmic / minimalism giant Manuel Göttsching (Ash Ra Tempel/Ashra, de).
I just can say it was really impressive. Hear and see for yourself.

The projections are complete analog. Only with lights and the visuals of colors in a petri dish projected on a wall, he creates fantastic abstracts forms and patterns. The analog procedure makes the whole composition even more realistic and touchable. He plasticise your imagination. In every form your mind creates your own symbols and figures and puts it together in a adventoures realistic dream. In combination with the the electronic music you even get more carried away. I picked some pictures from the website. And I hope the show is coming back soon to Berlin.

Here some old and new Impressions from the Show.

CTM Festival 30 January – 5 February 2012

January 18th, 2012 // No Comments // Posted by Andrea

Highly recommended. Every Year in the end of January and beginning of February the CTM Festival in cooperation with  transmediale  takes place in Berlin.

For every Year now, I joined the Festival. Its taking you away in another universe of music and cultural adventures. It will sharpen your senses and put your percipience on an higher level. Mostly it is really experimental. It’s more music for your mind then for your feet.

CTM Festival

“With an extensive program of concerts, discourses and an exhibition space, CTM.12 – Festival for Adventurous Music and Related Arts is appropriating the festival theme SPECTRAL to explore the current reemergence of all things ghostly and dark in experimental music, avant-pop, and art – and to speculate about its possible causes and inherent potentials.

In addition to a comprehensive music program at HAU, Berghain, Passionskirche, Gretchen, Kater Holzig and Horst Krzbrg, a discourse series developed in collaboration with the philosopher, psycho-historian and author Andreas L. Hofbauer will address the festival’s theme by pursuing questions concerning art, theory, and music. ”

Krake Festival // 15. – 21. August

August 17th, 2011 // No Comments // Posted by Andrea

“KRAKE ist an annual Berlin based festival for challenging electronic music and visual transduction initiated by Nico Deuster of KILLEKILL and Holger Hilgers.

The festival took place at the Suicide Circus for the first time in 2010 and was an overwhelming success: numerous groundbreaking artists of high reputation rocked the crowd such as Warp’s electronica heroes PLAID, techno legend CRISTIAN VOGEL, RADIOACTIVE MAN of the infamous two lone swordsmen or breakbeat weirdo BOGDAN RACZYNSKI. But there were also a lot of new talents who surprised the audience with their freshness. PLASTER with their audio/visual concert and KARSTEN PFLUM deserve to be named here.

For 2011 KRAKE will take the next level and consolidate its reputation as the most daring Berlin club festival with a massive line up in 4 venues and, a new website and an artwork by internationally acclaimed graphic designers DOPPELDENK. Musicians confirmed for 2011 include JIMMY EDGAR live set, BOLA live set, LEGOWELT live set, MIXMASTER MORRIS dj set, EMIKA live and many, many more.”

Is there anything more to say ?

just check their site

July 22nd, 2011 // No Comments // Posted by Lukas

offtrack radio show

Check out the OFFtrack radio show. Tracklistings are more then convincing and the shows are full of real gems.  The Episode below features Toshiya Kawasaki (Mule Music, Tokyo) in the mix and more great music to end the show. Some insight:

OFFtrack today is an internet platform providing all music lovers around the globe with an eclectic blend ranging from boogie, disco, house, detroit, electronica and beatscience to folk and jazz music. basically the music we love and try to create a platform for no matter what kind of pigeonhole.

Established in the year ‘98 as a weekly radioshow hosted by the originator Dirk Rumpff it is now available as a podcast broadcasted from Berlin. Additionally the show is available through soundcloud, righton.fm and bln.fm

Our frequently updated page with an archive of past shows offers regular interviews and exclusive guest DJ-Mixes by the likes of Jazzanova, Henrik Schwarz, Trickski etc. in a bi-weekly rhythm. Along with the usual suspects the idea is also to promote new talents and establish a forum for names that are new on the court. To many as well as we are.

Image Fulgurator – Julius von Bismarck

June 8th, 2011 // No Comments // Posted by Andrea

his website but in the moment it is under construction, but be sure to check it some time. He is a crazy creative head, who has to offer a lot more outstanding interactive art. He his a revoltionary urban artist, using modern technical knowledge to perform his ideas in the public.

“The Image Fulgurator is a device for physically manipulating photographs. It intervenes when a photo is being taken, without the photographer being able to detect anything. The manipulation is only visible on the photo afterwards.
In principle, the Fulgurator can be used anywhere where there is another camera nearby that is being used with a flash. It operates via a kind of reactive flash projection that enables an image to be projected on an object exactly at the moment when someone else is photographing it. The intervention is unobtrusive because it takes only a few milliseconds. Every photo another photographer takes of an object at which the Fulgurator is also aimed is affected by the manipulation. Hence visual information can be smuggled unnoticed into the images of others.”
