Gadi Mizrahi for sonic:torsion

April 27th, 2011 // 3 Comments // Posted by Lukas

Gadi Mizrahi is part of the wolf + lamb duo from NYC, is running the vinyl only imprint Double Standard Records and is currently touring the World showcasing the W+L vs. Soul Clap DJ Kicks. He and his crew are hanging out at the hotel i work at in Berlin. They had a nice little sunday’s bbq here this weekend. Check the pictures on the Hotel Blog.
As for the mix.. slow & funky it showcases what the label and Gadi have to offer.. quality music from a wide spectrum of genres. It was recorded on a recent gig at The Electric Tea Garden in Seattle.

Matt Moroder is from Hamburg as far as his soundcloud account tells me and is involved in djing since the 90s. He is running is own vinyl-only lable Little Leaf and released some good tunes. Check it out on his soundcloud or myspace. He mixes disco, house, afro.. and delivers a smooth eclectic mixtape..

Music by oOoOO and Letherette

December 8th, 2010 // 1 Comment // Posted by Lukas

2 Artists from that i am really enjoying currently are oOoOO and Letherette.

oOoOO is Christopher Dexter Greenspan from San Francisco in the US , who produces some very ghostly synth filled bass mesh witch catchy choruses.. its what you listen to at 6 in the morning having your last drink in a bar or when walking through the snow covered streets of Berlin. I like a lot. He recently released the EP named oOoOO on Tri Angle Records. You can buy it on iTunes or Roughttrade (among others).

Letherette are Andy Harber & Richard Roberts from the UK. They just released 2 remixes and 1 EP until now; and its all excellent stuff. The EP is a 100% worth buying. Pounding beats, lovely vocals.. i feel house, disco, lounge and hiphop in there. You built some secret DJ weapons, thanks Guys!
You can buy their digital EP released for Ho_tep Records on the 15th of November on iTunes.

DropOut Orchestra – Louche Podcast 016

April 27th, 2010 // 1 Comment // Posted by Lukas

Louche is a Leeds & London based night. I have been listening to their podcasts lately and this month eclectic piece is worth a subscription. Funk, soul, disco, motown and house, get ready for some old stuff. Here´s how they explain it:

“And now for something completely different. For this installment we have called upon the little heard of Drop Out Orchestra to record a mix, and they have delivered a set which is little like anything you have heard from our podcasts before. The mix is an eclectic journey through funk, soul, disco, motown and house, comprised mostly of old forgotten tracks and edits from the guys themselves. Their identities remain a secret, and all we can really tell you is that they are a Swedish family of musicians who are old enough to have heard such music the first time around! It’s an honor to put out such a rare podcast, we hope you enjoy it as much as us.”
