Blockhead – Downtempo at its best

I really like downtempo music and i keep discovering tunes i really enjoy. I present you Blockhead who released the Album “The Music Scene” for Ninja Tunes in 2009. New York based hip hop producer Tony Simon aka Blockhead released emotional, hip hop based intrumental tunes with complex melodies for many years. Sergio and Alex aka Gelka produced one of the best chill albums from 2008 and their track “Soon” is among my all time favourites. Such a positive groove. The gelka mixtapes are a nice mixture of old-school chill, jazz, nu-jazz, downtempo and hip hop. Perfect for home listening, chilling after a party or just for your way to work. A nice downtempo and swing mix by our friend DJ Moarice from Berlin. After some years djing he´s recently been playing this kind of sound regularly.
So here´s a recent recording from a 2:38 Hr Set played at the Club “Wilde Renate”. This mix has some really funky downtempo tracks in the beginning and goes more swing and old-school towards the end. I really like to listen to some of this stuff for a change. Well done!

To celebrate my personal 100th Post on CITYCLOUDS i decided to step up to the mixer for a eclectic downtempo selection of the tracks i currently really enjoy!

It is long ago since i last recorded a dj mix and all the work and studying didn´t really allow me to keep up with one of my favourite hobbies. So here it is..an nice selection of funky danceable chill tracks, featuring Artists like Tosca, Bonobo, Quantic, Gelka, Mr.Scruff and Sola Rosa from New Zealand.
Some old, some new…but good music all the way.
