Check out the OFFtrack radio show. Tracklistings are more then convincing and the shows are full of real gems. The Episode below features Toshiya Kawasaki (Mule Music, Tokyo) in the mix and more great music to end the show. Some insight:

OFFtrack today is an internet platform providing all music lovers around the globe with an eclectic blend ranging from boogie, disco, house, detroit, electronica and beatscience to folk and jazz music. basically the music we love and try to create a platform for no matter what kind of pigeonhole.

Established in the year ‘98 as a weekly radioshow hosted by the originator Dirk Rumpff it is now available as a podcast broadcasted from Berlin. Additionally the show is available through soundcloud, righton.fm and bln.fm

Our frequently updated page with an archive of past shows offers regular interviews and exclusive guest DJ-Mixes by the likes of Jazzanova, Henrik Schwarz, Trickski etc. in a bi-weekly rhythm. Along with the usual suspects the idea is also to promote new talents and establish a forum for names that are new on the court. To many as well as we are.

J’aime Le Dubstep features quite a lot of mixtapes, and generally they are a little bit to rough for me. This one got me though.. exploring the deeper side of bass, Porkshop from San Francisco puts together a wicked mixtape.. keep an eye on this guy!

His Bio states:

San Francisco based DJ/Producer Porkchop (Benjamin Keyser) has built a rising obelisk of sound stemming from the muscles and chambers of the underground scene into the high gloss swash of the refined dubstep movement above. In addition to his solo offerings, Porkchop contributes to many of the SF bass-fixated conglomerates and operates half of ADSUM with Mikey Fisher (Future Simple Project). His live performances are a mix of heady minimalist dubs and spontaneous compositions, further blurring the lines between DJ, musician, and artist.

Altered Zones is an international collective of music bloggers that unites 15 autonomous sites. Their aim is “to highlight one of the more overlooked narratives in contemporary music– the proliferation of home-recorded sounds, small-scale releases, and pockets of underground activity all over the world.” I check out new tracks and reviews on a regular basis and there is a lot to discover. I specially enjoyed the Halloween 2010 mix, which is in my playlist for some time now. A deep and melancholic mixtape with artists like James Blake, Forrest Swords, Beach House and Burial..winter music!

This featured mix from percussionlab has the genre description: Roots & Acid, boards of africa, roof music, dub. I can only say this is one of the best, more chilled, seamlessly mixed eclectic dub and roots mix i´ve heard in a while (after the Black Family crew from good ol Portugal that is). Its interesting to see Burial, Mala and Kode9 mixed with Fat Freddys Drop and Boards of Canada. The extensive tracklist (after the jump) shows how much music is seamlessly squeezed into this great mixtape! Find out more about DJ Olive on his website.

“Dub is about space. The space where guitars used to be, the space between beats, the space that echos create. DJ Olive absorbed this maxim in the 90′s, when you were still sucking pacifiers on the dancefloors of abandoned warehouses. He invented the term illbient, only to later claim the term was a joke. He’s one of the few dj’s successfully riding the line between in your face artistic expression and dancefloor palatability. from sound installations at Whitney Biennial, the Venice Biennale, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, to freaking the bins at Dub War over the last few years, he’s both an entertainer and an educator.

This mix is a dub mix from a NYC originator – it’s about space, man. Light one up, lay back, and enjoy.”

So the weather is really depressing around here..Berlin is cold and grey and it feels like winter. So i chose an adequate picture..
But, we´ve got fresh tunes: my friend Holger aka Soul Kitchen published a new mixtape. As he told me, he arrived home from Berghain and produced this mix in the aftermath of a nice party night. Some deephouse and some nice minimal techno…

Back on track. I am back in Berlin and found this indeed artic mix by TRG. I just arrived from a Country where it was 20 degrees warmer then in Berlin at the moment. This mix really goes for the winter vybe..some disharmonic grooves shape up to something good. Not an easy listening experience but i really like it. Way to go TRG.
