Nami

Love these Pics! From a Photobook by Syoin Kajii called Nami (the japanese word for wave).
They made me think about the strenght of the ocean i have witnessed while living close to the atlantic for almost my entire life. Not as asthetic as the ones from Clark Little but raw..untreated..

Underwater Photography by Valerie Morignat

May 26th, 2009 // No Comments // Posted by Lukas

A very special atmosphere comes along while i look at these Pictures…i think most of us have wittnessed the moment when we dive underwater und look up…hold still…and gravity turns insignificant.  Shouldn´t Art or Photography make us think or at least feel something?! In this case it worked. Great job.

Suicide Girls – Fight Club

April 23rd, 2009 // 2 Comments // Posted by Lukas

Pretty cool and somehow sexy Fotostory by Suicide Girls…

What they say about themselves:

“With a vibrant, sex positive community of women (and men), SuicideGirls was founded on the belief that creativity, personality and intelligence are not incompatible with sexy, compelling entertainment, and millions of people agree. The site mixes the smarts, enthusiasm and DIY attitude of the best music and alternative culture sites with an unapologetic, grassroots approach to sexuality.”

Surfing Photography by Dustin Humphrey

April 13th, 2009 // 2 Comments // Posted by Lukas

Truly impressive Photography by Dustin Humphrey for the Dopamine brand campaign of the brand “Insight”.
Here comes the description:

Insight has launched an impressive art installation series entitled Dopamine, from setting up underwater art installations with surf actions shots in Bali and having re-created famous skate spots in the middle of the Balinese jungle.

The surf installation was inspired by Beatnick;, Steve Gorrow embarked on a journey beneath the sea to explore the depths of the mind and creativity. Along with the help of his brother, Steve shipped out to Bali to take on the massive feat of building above and beneath the sea to give birth to the latest Insight surf spectacle, and that is Dopamine. Not one to cut corners on creativity, Steve combined upside down bedrooms, naked girls on motor bikes and underwater shanty towns with the amazing skill of the Insight surf team (surfnics) and the photographic talents of Dustin Humphrey to create an array of split double world madness. Welcome to Insight’s latest surf campaign featuring surfers Kai Otton, Luke Stedman, Warren Smith, Jared Mell, Made Lana,Jason Apparicio & The Jamaican Surf Team.”

Photographer: Claire Martin

April 7th, 2009 // 2 Comments // Posted by Matthias

This is up to you Andrea. Claire Martin began her career by pursuing a degree in Social Work with a minor in Anthropology, however, she quickly changed her focus to Photography when she realized that greater change can be effected through this medium.  The photograph reveals and illuminates; it educates and inspires action.  Her recent work in the Vancouver Downtown East Side, Canada’s poorest neighbourhood, has brought to light terrible injustices and the government’s failure to address the social problems that plague this community. This series has been recognized by the IPA with a nomination for Deeper Perspective Photographer of the Year.

Claire currently resides in Slab City, California where she is documenting a community of people that live off the grid amid harsh desert conditions, in a quest to be free.
