Darling Farah – EXXY EP & mixtape

Here’s one to watch out for. Darling Farah… he is producing some very fresh sound. Deep, dubbed, dark techno with a twist of soul.. reminds a bit of some deeper dubstep tunes. His Exxy EP was released on Civil Music in June. The description found at Civil Music says:

Originally from Detroit, Farah was born into this world with techno already sewn into his DNA. His later relocation to the U.A.E, which is one of the most club baron countries in the world and to a city that actually prohibits live music to be played in public, only further resolved the isolated Farah to embrace his musical heritage.

Free Album: Das Kraftfuttermischwerk – Am Ende der Kirschallee

Ronny runs a Blog called “Das Kraftfuttermischwerk” and also releases music under the same name. The blog is great and has some massive output and growing number of fans and visitors. He featured a fantastic christmas countdown with a series of mixtapes ranging from dubtechno, techno, dub and ambient tunes, experimental and bass music..an excellent selection. To finalize his countdown he gave out his own new album as a free download under CC license. Downbeats, Dubtechno, 2-Step.. quality stuff. This reminds of a listener comment about the fantastic soulsearching radio show on the radio x website:

“(..)I think that there are some DJ that just spin music like they are alone in their rooms, never taking the time to take a moment and share the real feeling of what good music is. For those kind of DJ’s music is about ego. But then their are DJ like you, who hear good music and want to share it among friends. A great DJ hears a good tune and wants to run around and tell the world how great it is.(…)”.

Input selector from France seem to be a proper crew. At least they have a proper podcast. I am listening to this the whole afternoon now and its not getting boring for a second. Some damn nice tunes. So the weather is really depressing around here..Berlin is cold and grey and it feels like winter. So i chose an adequate picture..
But, we´ve got fresh tunes: my friend Holger aka Soul Kitchen published a new mixtape. As he told me, he arrived home from Berghain and produced this mix in the aftermath of a nice party night. Some deephouse and some nice minimal techno…

Aufgang – merging techno and classic music

After reading Groove Magazine i got to know about a project by Francesco Tristano, Rami Khalifé and Aymeric Westrich named Aufgang. The titel story was a good read and after checking the music they are producing, i must indeed say that what they do really works. They are playing techno live on 2 pianos and a drummer who´s controling some drum machines and electronic synthesizers. It´s a new approach, merging styles and bringing it down to what it is at the end: music. And either you feel something from it or not, regardless of what genre or style you would group it in. But see for yourself..
