Oneohtrix Point Never in symbioses with the Joshua Light Show

February 4th, 2012 // 1 Comment // Posted by Andrea

The Joshua Light Show

New York City 1967. When the Summer of Love blows its wind from the West Coast to the city, it brings with it new ideas, colours and sounds.
That was the beginning of the Joshua Light Show, but this incredible show never reached middle-europe, till now. In Line with the transmediale and the CTM.12 Festival he performs with three outstanding musicians in Berlin.
Supersilent with Stian Westerhus, Oneohtrix Point Never and as a special highlight, no other than Krautrock / cosmic / minimalism giant Manuel Göttsching (Ash Ra Tempel/Ashra, de).
I just can say it was really impressive. Hear and see for yourself.

The projections are complete analog. Only with lights and the visuals of colors in a petri dish projected on a wall, he creates fantastic abstracts forms and patterns. The analog procedure makes the whole composition even more realistic and touchable. He plasticise your imagination. In every form your mind creates your own symbols and figures and puts it together in a adventoures realistic dream. In combination with the the electronic music you even get more carried away. I picked some pictures from the website. And I hope the show is coming back soon to Berlin.

Here some old and new Impressions from the Show.

CTM Festival 30 January – 5 February 2012

January 18th, 2012 // No Comments // Posted by Andrea

Highly recommended. Every Year in the end of January and beginning of February the CTM Festival in cooperation with  transmediale  takes place in Berlin.

For every Year now, I joined the Festival. Its taking you away in another universe of music and cultural adventures. It will sharpen your senses and put your percipience on an higher level. Mostly it is really experimental. It’s more music for your mind then for your feet.

CTM Festival

“With an extensive program of concerts, discourses and an exhibition space, CTM.12 – Festival for Adventurous Music and Related Arts is appropriating the festival theme SPECTRAL to explore the current reemergence of all things ghostly and dark in experimental music, avant-pop, and art – and to speculate about its possible causes and inherent potentials.

In addition to a comprehensive music program at HAU, Berghain, Passionskirche, Gretchen, Kater Holzig and Horst Krzbrg, a discourse series developed in collaboration with the philosopher, psycho-historian and author Andreas L. Hofbauer will address the festival’s theme by pursuing questions concerning art, theory, and music. ”

Herman Kolgen – Video Art

May 15th, 2011 // No Comments // Posted by Andrea

I saw his video production DUST at the Transmediale 2011 opening. I remembered this video because a fly got on my nerves a couple of minutes before. The good thing, I am not able to see this close-up view with my eyes and my room is not so dusty. But Herman Kolgen gave us the chance to show us an abstract view from a short life of a fly.

for more informations visit his website and you can find more videos on vimeo

Hyperdub label night – Friday 4th of February@Berghain

February 2nd, 2011 // No Comments // Posted by Lukas

I rarely post event tips.. but this one is quite essential for those who love the subbass and followed the evolution of dubstep and bass music in recent years. After Burials debut in 2007 everyone´s heard of Hyperdub. Where else could it be staged then in the Berghain, where quality sound and a quality soundsystem meet up for a proper session.  The night is split in a live part and a dj part…here´s the lineup in running order, starting at 21h Friday:

Kode 9 & The Spaceape LIVE
Darkstar LIVE
King Midas Sound LIVE
Cooly G
Terror Danjah
Kode 9

Be there!

A must do for sure as well !!!

club transmediale

The 12th edition of Berlin’s unique and radically open-minded music and art festival, CTM (club transmediale), takes place from February 1 to 6, 2011. The festival, repeatedly designated as “Germany’s prime meeting point for electronic and experimental music” and as “Berlin’s best pop festival”, puts down roots at new venues in Berlin Kreuzberg, namely the HAU theatre and a cluster of spaces around the “Kotti” square – Festsaal Kreuzberg, West Germany, Monarch, Kotti-Shop and Paloma Bar – where a Berlin stronghold for daring, independent music and art has developed. High profile club nights at Maria am Ostbahnhof and Berghain are planned too, as well as a concert series reviving chamber music at the .HBC and an exhibition at the Kunstquartier Bethanien.
